    Housing Information
    Basic Allowance For Housing (BAH) is provided by the military to help active service members with housing costs, and can be used for either on- or off-base housing.

    The Housing Management Office (HMO) will be your first point of contact when you receive moving orders, and provides services that will help you with referrals, relocation assistance, guidance for entering a lease agreement and tenant-landlord disputes.

    • Single airmen ranked E1-E4 with less than 3 years of service will need to contact The Unaccompanied Housing Office at DSN 283-3197/3112/3228.

    • On-base housing for Tyndall AFB is privatized. To check available housing for your rank and family size, contact Balfour Beatty Communities (850) 286-1700. They have 2-4 single family and duplex style homes, with varying amenities such as: central AC, washer/dryer hookups, garage and porch. The community features a children's learning garden, swimming pool, sports courts and more.

    Panama City, Florida, is the closest major city to Tyndall AFB. The Panama City metro area (the county) has 170,000 people, including Callaway, Lynn Haven, Cedar Grove, Parker, and Springfield. Panama City is a small city in the Florida panhandle, on the inside shore of St. Andrew's Bay. The area is generally sunny, not generally very busy, but there are a number of local events and features to spend some time on. The area has a humid, warm, coastal climate, mild winters and hot, humid summers, The area has occasional thunderstorms and storms off the Gulf, and is rarely subject to hurricanes. Downtown Panama City to Tyndall AFB takes about 20 minutes to commute; Callaway is about 8 miles and 14 minutes away - these are the two closest major communities to base.

    About the Base
    Tyndall Air Force Base is home to the 325th Fighter Wing which provides training for F-22A Raptor pilots. Other units stationed at Tyndall include Headquarters First Air Force, the 95th Fighter Squadron, and the 53rd Weapons Evaluation Group. It is located near Panama City, Florida.
